So I have metamask...
and I got a message that there was a certain coin that was dropping in value because of the fact that someone had exploited a vulnerability in the swapping program Uniswap, that allowed them to take off with over half a million of this coin - $BUNNY.
I heard about the fact that the coin dropped in value from $400+ down to $1 and was last reported trading at $24
So I bought some.
I held it in my metamask wallet, told my friend about it, he's on a plane to Miami... so he sent me some Ethereum to buy the coin, because you cannot buy it with Fiat, there's a whole "process" its a "swap thing"
So fast forward, he sends me the funds, to my metamask wallet, and I had some transactions still pending from last night, while the transactions were going through, I noticed my coin balances dropping
I figured it was because I dont usually keep a large amount in metamask.
Well, over a period of about an hour, I watched hundreds of dollars drain out of this wallet.
I looked up the transactions on the ERC20 scanner and BEP20 scanner and I can see, im looking at it right now, that someone took the coins, and just.. transferred them into another wallet... just... like that.
I'm not dumb enough to put my private keys or recovery or
"seed" phrase into anything, but I think the swap site is what got me.
You have to connect your metamask wallet in order to swap these little coins for one another, up the chain back to stablecoins, and then back to another form of storage. I feel like perhaps my credentials were compromised around here.
either that or...
Ok, Honesty Time...
There's also the fact that last night, when I was stupidly clicking away, racking up hundreds of transactions
I dont know why, but I said "lets see if I can trick the system" Long story short, I tried to send through as many transactions as I possibly could within seconds, I even enlisted the help of an "auto-clicker" to click the button hundreds of times a second... I racked up over 2500 swapping transactions... and it took all night, and even right now, they are still processing... they are for $0.23/ piece and they are still attempting to process, almost 12 hours later, given its on ERC20 Blockchain, and I have no money in my wallet, because, well, be cause I have no money. What can I say? I had never heard of this swapping, then I saw sushi swap and pancake swap and all the other treats... I'm also the type of person who learns how things work by breaking them... so this is pretty par for the course for me..
I just didnt expect to get robbed, if I did get robbed. If its "the system" saying "you dont have enough ETH in your wallet to pay gas for these transactions, so we are going to take all of these other little alt coins out of your metamask wallet without your permission, then thats fine, I understand. I racked up the bill, I should be held responsible for payment and I am perfectly ok with that.
is there anything I can do to attempt to get my coins back?
